This Week with JJ – R.I.P Stephen Hawking
How was your week?
My story of the week:
R.I.P Stephen Hawking. The man was an inspiration to us all. Just imagine at 21 years of age being told you have a disease that will leave you wheelchair bound and dependent on a machine to talk for you. What do you do? Give up? How do you deal with that kind of news. Stephen Hawking’s determination to live a full and meaningful life is a lesson to us all. We all face challenges in our day to day lives, some big, some small. How we react to them changes our future. We can become a victim and feel sorry for ourselves, living in a world of self pity. Or we face our challenge head on and strive to achieve our hopes and dreams. Stephen did not allow his circumstances to stop him achieving a string of awards including thirteen honorary degrees. It also didn’t stop him from having a family, being blessed with children and grandchildren. Although I have never read one of his books, or know much about his theories I admire and respect this man for his courage, his strength and his determination.

A great honor for both men!
Question of the week:
What’s stopping you?
I am grateful I have no major illnesses, diseases or disabilities. In the grand scheme of things my challenges are small. I know that. But to me they are huge. As an introvert I get overwhelmed at the thought of meeting new people or going somewhere new. This week I forced myself to do both. I was so full of anxiety I was almost sick. But I know that this fear of mine is what stops me from doing so many things. So one step at a time I vow to move forward. I will overcome what’s stopping me. How about you?
